This is a Mikkelsen custom steel road bike built around the Ritchey Breakaway frame components. The frame separates into two parts which allows the complete bike to be packed into the included suitcase for airline travel. It has a slightly sloping top tube. I measure the horizontal top tube dimension as 57.5cm. The headtube is 172mm, and the mid-point standover is about 82cm. Equipped with Shimano 9 spd drivetrain and Rivendell (Dia-Compe) Silver shifters (bar-end) for ultimate travel durability. Has original aluminum fork painted to match. Will accept up to 28mm tires. Polished crankset is a nice touch also.

Mikkelsen was a very highly regarded custom frame builder up in the Bay Area for many years, but is retired now.

I bought this bike with a Campy triple group, which I removed, and then built it up as shown. I only used it for travel 3 times, and put maybe 200 miles on it. The wheels (Giant OEM), tires (Gatorskin 28mm), and saddle (Fizik Pave CX) were new, everything else was in very good to excellent used condition.

Includes Ritchey travel case in excellent condition, along with packing materials, etc. Take a bike with you when you travel by car or airline. I've used this on Southwest flights and never paid a fee to check it through.

In addition to the downtube coupler, all cables have quick disconnects, and there is a locking collar on the steerer so you don't have to re-adjust the headset everytime you build it up.

Great riding travel bike, which rides just like a normal road bike. Has a nice snappy steel feel without being too flexy.

Available for test rides (SoCal area). Can also provide instruction on packing it into the travel case.
